PSA: NEW MOCKINGJAY - PART 1 TRAILER RELEASE THIS WEEKEND - EXPLAINED
The brand new Mockingjay - Part 1 trailer (titled #OurLeaderTheMockingjay) is having its premiere TOMORROW at 12pm PT at the Capitol Gallery (brought to you by Samsung) @ Bar 207 at the Hard Rock Hotel San Diego!
The premiere event at 12pm will be introduced by select members of the cast which are still to be announced. We’re hearing no tickets are required to enter, but you do need to line up early.
Following the premiere and introduction, the trailer will be screening at the Gallery until 4pm, so if can’t make it for midday, do not fret! We’ve also heard the trailer will be screening at the Gallery on Saturday from 12-4pm too. You will also receive a brand new Mockingjay pin at the venue too!
On Saturday and Sunday, select Best Buy stores across the US (list here) will be showing the trailer on the Hunger Games Movie Pack App on demo Samsung Galaxy Tab S models (according to @SamsungMobileUS's tweet) at their Samsung Experience Shop sections. The app itself which will be available on Google Play for select devices following the weekend will also let you access Samsung-exclusive content, including screenplays, videos and photos. If you see the trailer at Best Buy, you will also receive a new Mockingjay pin, a poster and a redeemable free ticket to see the film when it comes out!
Following the weekend (and Samsung’s exclusivity rights), we are hearing from international distributors that the trailer is set to debut online in multiple languages for all the fans around the world to watch and enjoy at midnight ET/5am BST on Monday, July 28. On the same day the aforementioned Samsung app will be made available to download, on which you can see the trailer and access other content.
In regards to the content of the trailer, it seems as though the naming of the Panem Addresses and the upcoming trailer has left everyone confused. The official Lionsgate domestic name is the “teaser trailer” and the marketing materials refer to this as the “official trailer”, “teaser trailer” or “exclusive trailer”.
To put it simply, you shouldn’t worry about the word “teaser” in there - the key word is trailer. We are confident, especially with the Panem Address “teasers” that have come out the past few weeks, and the scale of this weekend’s launch which is sponsored by Samsung, that this will be a full-length trailer like the fantastic one for Catching Fire that premiered this time last year.
So sit back and let the excitement begin as the wait is almost over. If you get the chance to see the trailer this weekend, let us know your reactions!
Today would also have been Philip Seymour Hoffman’s 47th birthday. We will miss him dearly.
Peeta Mellark: Spirit of Strength
Capitol Couture has been waiting eagerly for the next wave of incredible images of our cherished elite, and here they are! Fresh from the excitement of the most eventful Quarter Quell to date, we are thrilled and honored to present the new Capitol Citizen Living Portraits.
As our Quarter Quell victors, Peeta Mellark and Johanna Mason hold the distinct honor of being the first Capitol citizens featured within a Living Portrait. Peeta stands tall and true in his Capitol Citizen Living Portrait, his matte leather Unconditional ensemble showcasing a stone-like texture and channeling the victor’s quiet strength, completed by shirt and shoes courtesy of Maison Martin Margiela. The paper collar piece, designed by David Mason, mirrors the sculptural elements in Johanna’s dress and gives a stern ambiance to the baker’s son. With an unprecedented two victories under his belt, Peeta is no longer the boy who bravely faced the 74th Hunger Games, but a true Capitol hero.
Citizens can witness the artist’s hand-selected series of Living Portraits in person at SOCA this summer.
Polish doctor that refused to perform abortion named a “hero”
Dr Bogdan Chazan was visited by an expecting mother (32 weeks into pregnancy), who already had 5 miscarriages before and was worried about her health. It turned out that the fetus had hydrocephalus, undeveloped brain and was missing many bones from its skull. The Doctor refused to perform an abortion and didn’t send the woman to another hospital which could do so (according to polish law, if a doctor doesn’t want to perform an abortion, he has to choose another hospital which will agree to do so). Chazan was named a “local hero” and “true warrior of Jesus in the name of life of the unborn” by many polish politicians and catholic activists. He used conscience clause as an excuse for his actions.
The woman gave birth to the child through a C-section. She and her husband spent 10 painful days watching their deformed child die a horrible death. When she finally decided to speak out, she said:
“During these 10 days, no priest, no pro life activist or even dr Chazan came to see the child, to ask if they can help. It was really hard to look at our child. We knew what was coming, but it was still very hard to cope with”
Congratulations, pro-lifers - another “life” saved, another “happy” child and “happy” family.

“I don’t want you forgetting how different our circumstaces are. If you die, and I live, there’s no life for me at all back in District Twelve. You’re my whole life.” Peeta says. “I would never be happy again. It’s different for you. I’m not saying it wouldn’t be hard. But there are other people who’d make your life worth living.”
“No one really needs me,” he says, and there’s no selfpity in his voice. It’s true his family doesn’t need him. They will mourn him, as will a handfull of friends. But they will get on…. I realise only one person will be damaged beyond repair if Peeta dies. Me.
"I do," I say. "I need you.”
Being one of the wealthiest districts, District 4 tends to produce career tributes who volunteer to participate in the Hunger Games. These children are raised and trained to win the Games, making them stronger and much more capable of winning than the average tribute. The bread from District 4 is a salty, fish-shaped loaf, tinted green by seaweed. Their source of income is fishing and children are trained for these jobs at a young age, giving them an advantage in the Hunger Games. These citizens are adept with nets and tridents, and can swim like fish themselves.
